I would like to thank all of you that were involved in the
"One Million Pillowcase Challenge" from
American Patchwork and Quilting.
This was such a feel good project making patchwork pillowcases for charity.

Here are some things that are happening at Cookiescreations.com. Cookie visited our store a few years back, and conducted a wonderful PE Design workshop one day and an Embroidery Event the next day. We learned so much and we became ardent followers of her Website long, long ago.

"Our Facebook page is growing nicely since I began communicating directly with customers through it, just a few months ago. The free Christmas design on our FB page has been replaced by a Valentine design and is available now.
The newsletter will continue to provide projects and free designs to you.
Our office will be closed from 12/30/2011 through 1/7/2012 for a winter holiday. We certainly don't want to see any one at CookiesCreations crumbling from no holiday break!

Still making coasters!!
So many of you have been making the coasters for friends, family and for craft fairs and fundraisers. I am including the directions in this letter just in case you did not print them out last time. I want to thank Jana for sharing this great idea with us. Even a brand new customer who needed a walking foot for her old pal, Kenmore, came in and loved them and will be making them for gifts this Holiday.
Originally, Jana came in with a very quick and easy idea for coasters. (Imagine, even I made a bunch of them, and when customers found out, they KNEW it had to be easy). I do not have a picture, yet, but the labor consisted of cutting six 5" squares of fabric and one 5" sq of batting. fold 4 in half and iron a crisp edge. then, lay one flat sq (face down) on the table, put the batting on top, followed by the second flat sq (face up). then weave the 4 folded pieces like you are closing a box on top with the raw edges to the outside. Now, here comes the hard part.....stitch a straight line around the outer edge, clip the corners carefully, and turn right sides out!!
Peggy just told me that you can make a potholder the same way, just use 8-inch squares instead of 5-inch!

Please check our classes page because Mickey is always coming up with new ideas. She is teaching a new quilted table runner. The Diva Bag class and the Professional Tote have been a huge success and will be taught on a regular basis. Mickey is teaching the Block of the Month for private students in case you were not able to join us when the store ran the program last September. We have classes that are branching out to include patterns from Stephanie Kimura, such as the jacket and the purses.

The kit includes a rotary cutter, a cutting mat, quilter's miter ruler, leather thimble, straight pins, safety pins and quilting hand needles.
Customers purchase this for themselves to bring to class, or for a beginner quilting friend or family member. The thimble used to sell for $9.49 itself.
